What is this re-training or re-skilling phenomena?

AI as known as artificial intelligence and Automation is the key word now days both at tech industry and job market as it has its huge impact on our job market and how works are being done in industries. Industrial automation deals primarily with the automation of manufacturing, quality control and material handling processes.

Most of the successful companies like AT&T, Tesla, Google and so on are starting to use digitization, automation, and AI to power up their various workflow and delivering customer services as its easier to do it. We can see chat bots are taking over the people at call center gradually. So It’s common that physical workforce are being changed by the technology based assistance.

But firstly we should bear in mind that AI and automation are set to assist employees, not replace them completely as in real life inspire of being so clever and automated, those machines and software needs to be controlled by well known and trained person to work on their fullest. A weak process is not improved by using a tablet instead a sheet of paper. We see driverless cars on road and there is nothing to be amazed of as it’s a matter of time that we will see cars going here to there just by click of phone , being controlled by AI , supervised by technical team . Waymo and Uber are already testing Autonomous cars on roads in Arizona keeping safety under check. Tesla and many more reknown company already selling a limited form of Autopilot or self driving cars although most companies are still on experimental stage. Techgiant like Google also testing on driverless cars

So workforce is needed to be re-trained or reskilled for the works apart from the jobs that can be done by technology, even in some places controlling the tech stuff needs proper trained eyes.

Careers like automation ethicist and interactive Chatbot designer are uprising day by day though there are not adequate specialists to be hired at the moment.

Why it is needed?

The fact here is still majority of people in our industries or even people around us lacks knowledge about how to go on with the tech stuff. That’s why they needed to be trained for those stuff in order to properly utilizing the physical workforce combining with the modern technology. In this Industry 4.0 era we need more and more skilled person to handle the decisions about where technology is needed and where we have to use human force. We will see only 10 % of companies have clear goals on developing manufacturing via digital means. The other 90 % have manufacturing problems that they are seeking to resolve and it can only be solved by retraining their employees not by just using automation and digitization. Those who can use the proper tool in proper place can only utilize the power of automation and the Industry 4.0 we take pride on.

How companies are doing it?

Steps taken by re-known companies?

Various institutes, colleges and organization acre coming forward to teach people of society as the need workers to put up with new technology and using them properly. Companies like AT&T Amazon Google and so many are already started to create IT skilled workforce.

Walmart, Kroger, and Amazon all are exploring the use of self-checkout technology. Also an increasing number of retailers are using robots in warehouses to speed up delivery times.

Cognizant, a global consulting company has recently been promoted with $100 million to form a new non-profit foundation to support STEM and digital education for U.S workers and students. Their programs will help who looking to get specialized technical skills for the new formed job industry.

Cognizant will lead the new step with companies such as AT&T who see the value in the current workforce.

“The foundation will help prepare American workers and students for roles in the digital economy and will build professionals, reskilling and upskilling workers

Recent research from Element AI showed that only 90,000 people globally have the right skills for today’s artificial intelligence/machine learning needs

Various institutes and today’s universities now ditching those long-term programs for the needs of today’s workforce, instead they are including short programs, which dramatically takes less time to learn a certain skill and grow.

How we can start our target for retrain our workers to get shaped for the future needs ?

we should follow these steps properly utilize resources and Using the existing works for better.

  1. Map our vision and target for the future upgrade. If we want to enhance our customer service with better services we have to we may need to look at upskilling our cashiers to become more like customer experience agents who deal with more many customers a day and have better experience with them our help them to get that training .
  2. we have to choose the workers we want to train and to decide that we have to choose through the workers who are likely to stay long , be loyal and also intelligent and holds the right position to do the task better .
  3. lastly , we have to set goals that about how much we are going to give effort and how much outcome we want . then it will be easier to analyze the results .

In the end we see that AI, Automation, Industry 4.0 All these words buzzing around us is nothing but tools that enables us to give better services and get far more success. To achieve that we have to embrace ourselves . Target, Apply and Get better outcome is the way to follow. Furthermore its not just the industry that is getting updated by technology like these but also its creating better workforce and helping everyone grow on their own way. we will see more and more tech revolution and industry getting mixed with upgraded work force.
